Professor Kristoff Evan, Dean of Bioinformatics Engineering Faculty in Pázmány Péter University in Hungary, Visits Al-Andalus University for Medical Sciences

Within the framework of the Erasmus+ Program, which is funded by the European side, and in accordance with the agreement signed between the Faculty of Bioinformatics Engineering at Pázmány Péter University in Hungary and the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at Al-Andalus Private University for Medical Sciences, Professor Kristoff Evan, Dean of the afore-mentioned faculty, visited Al-Andalus University during the period 12-14 June 2022. The visit aimed at promoting the scientific and academic cooperation between the two institutions.

Among the attendees of the reception were Prof. Dr. Mohammad Amer Al-Mardini, President of the University; Dr. Abd-Alnaser Harfouch, Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Mr. Ghassan Ruqayyah, University Secretary; Dr. Ali Ibrahim, University Vice President for Administrative and Students Affairs; Dr. Eng. Mamdouh Munif, Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering; and Dr. Eng. Muhammad Ayham Darwish, Head of the Department of Biomechanics and coordinator of relations with the Hungarian University.

The visit lasted for three days. During the first day, a visit to the university's Scientific Research Bank was conducted, and there was a layout of the university's plan to increase the number of scientific publications in all faculties of the university, as part of its relentless efforts to improve its global ranking. This was followed by a visit to the laboratories of the Faculty of Pharmacy, where Dr. Manhal Youssef, Dean of faculty, showed the most vital teaching laboratories available in the faculty. Also, IQ test was presented for its use as a standard to screen university distinguished students in order to nominate them to work in the university's strategic projects. 

During the second day, the visiting professor made a presentation about the faculties and laboratories in his university. During the presentation, focus was on the Faculty of Bioinformatics Engineering and its laboratories and the study programs that it offers during both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The discussion also involved the faculty's most prominent research topics which are funded by the European Union and the Hungarian Government. The attendees of the meeting were a group of faculty and technical staff members and a group of fourth year students who are interested in the language and have shown perseverance according to the evaluation of their instructors. The presentation sparked off many questions about the possibility of student exchanges, joint scientific research, and the scientific, lingual, and material requirements for admission. Later on, a team, consisting of Dr. Mamdouh Munif, Dr. Muhammad Ayham Darwish, and Eng. Saleh Masoud, conducted a tour of the laboratories and halls of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering. In addition, there was a visit to Al-Andalus University Hospital, its operations and care departments, the Engineering Office, and the Board of Directors. The visit included presenting the proposed administrative structure for the management of the university hospital.

During the third day, a scientific seminar was conducted on the project adopted by our university: implantable kidney. The proposed engineering design of the project was presented in addition to the most important scientific ideas for its implementation. The seminar was attended by distinguished second year students of the Biomedical Engineering Faculty, along with a group of teachers and interested people. Dr. Mamdouh Munif supervised the presentation of the video introducing the project. Dr. Muhammad Ayham Darwish moderated the discussion on the possibility of cooperation and joint scientific publication between the two universities and supervised the Q. & A. segment with the present students who showed great interest in the topic.

Finally, the visiting professor met with Dr. Shadi Al-Azma, the International Relations Officer at the University, to discuss ways to expand cooperation with the rest of the university's faculties and increase the number of scholarships for university students and professors. 

The visit concluded with taking photos and exchanging shield gifts between the visiting professor and the university administration, represented by Dr. Ali Ibrahim. The exchange was an expression of the warm relations and friendship between the two universities.
