Admission & Registration

Each year, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research issues the conditions for applying for the admissions comparison on the basis of the scores total and the number of accepted students determined by the Ministry itself for each academic year. The following are some stipulations for the admission of a fresher student to the university, after having fulfilled the conditions of the admissions comparison: 

  1. The student needs to successfully pass any test or personal interview to be determined by the university.
  2. The student is obliged to submit all the required documents after being accepted by the comparison within the specified period.
  3. The admission of students who are tardy in completing all admission procedures, including the payment of tuition fees, on the dates specified by the university, will be cancelled.

1- Syrian High School Diploma:

1- The original certificate and /5/ duly certified copies of the certificate.
2- A copy of the ID card (civil record extract in case of no ID card).
3- A copy of the passport, if any.
4- /12/ personal photos (for males in formal attire, with short cut hair and a clean shaven beard).
5- Non-conviction extract 
6- A copy of the military service book (for males).

Non-Syrian High School Diploma:
1- The original high school certificate duly attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country granting the certificate, the Syrian Embassy in the country granting the certificate, and the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in addition to 6 copies of the certificate certified by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs only.
2- The student's academic sequence (for grades 9-10-11),  duly attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country granting the certificate, the Syrian Embassy in the country granting the certificate, and the Syrian Foreign Ministry, in addition to 3 copies certified by the Syrian Foreign Ministry only.
3- A copy of the ID card (civil record extract in case of no ID card).
4- A copy of the passport.
5- /12/ personal photos (for males in formal dress, with light hair and a clean shaven beard).
6- A copy of the military service book (for males)
7- A certificate equivalency letter from the Ministry of Education in the country granting the certificate, duly attested with a copy of the certificate with a foreign curriculum. This copy needs to be duly certified by the Syrian Foreign Ministry. 
8- Non-conviction extract 
9- Payment receipt of fees for the non-Syrian certificate equivalency (to be paid at one of the branches of the Commercial Bank of Syria) (provided that the name matches the name mentioned in the high school certificate).
10- A duly attested translation of all documents and certificates issued in a foreign language into Arabic with duly attestation.

Students from public or private Syrian universities who are transferred (either by registration change or parallel transfer) may be accepted by virtue of an admissions comparison conducted by the university in accordance with the rules set by the Higher Education Council for each major or faculty, as follows:

      1. Changing Registration: 

1- It is stipulated that the student meets the condition of the required average of the secondary certificate in the year of admission to the university and in the specialization to which the registration is changed.
2- The university conducts an equivalency process for the courses the student had passed at the university he/she had transferred from, provided that the exemption may not exceed 50% of the courses of the plan in the specialization to which the registration is to be changed.
3- The sudent should not be dismissed from the university from which he wants to transfer due to disciplinary reasons.

      2. Parallel Transfer:

1-It is stipulated that the student meets the condition of the required average of the secondary certificate in the year of admission to university. 
2- The student must have passed 30 credit hours at the university to be transferred from.
3- The student should not have been dismissed from the university to be transferred from due to disciplinary reasons. 

In the case of students' transfer from a non-Syrian (public or private) university to a specialization similar to theirs, the following provisions shall apply:

1- The university in which the student was studying should be accredited and recognized both in the country of study and in the Syrian Arab Republic.
2- The student's average should not be less than 10% of the averages determined by the decree of the Higher Education Council, taking into account the residency requirement (eight months annually). The average should not be less than 50% in any way.
3- The student must be transferred or have passed to the second year at the university from which he/she wishes to transfer provided that the afore-mentioned university adopts the semester or annual system, or that the student had passed at least 30 credit hours if the university adopts the credit hour system.
4- If the student achieves the required average in the transfer year and wishes to transfer to the university, he/she is entitled to transfer without regard to the number of hours he/she has completed, taking into account the residency condition.
5- The student must obtain the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research upon the  verification of the student's length of stay, provided that it is not less than eight months in each academic year.
6- The student should not have been dismissed for disciplinary reasons from the university from which the transfer is intended.

Holders of Syrian Certificates:

  1. The original high school certificate and /5/ duly certified copies of the certificate,
  2. A grades transcript, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and /2/ duly certified copies of the transcript,
  3. A certified university record file,
  4. A duly certified course description/ study plan, which includes the number of hours per course,
  5. A copy of the ID,
  6. A copy of the passport, if any,
  7. A copy of the military service book, for males,
  8. /12/ personal photos (for males in formal attire, with short cut hair and a clean shaven beard).

Holders of Non-Syrian Certificates:

  1. The original high school certificate, duly attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country granting the certificate, the Syrian Embassy in that country, and the Syrian ministry of Foreign Affairs; and /5/ copies of the certificate certified by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
  2. The student’s academic sequence (for grades 9-10-11), duly attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country granting the certificate, the Syrian Embassy in that country, and the Syrian ministry of Foreign Affairs; and /3/ copies of the certificate certified by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
  3. A grades transcript, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and /2/ copies of the transcript duly certified from the university the student wants to transfer from,
  4. A certified university record file,
  5. A duly certified course description/ study plan, which includes the number of hours per course,
  6. A copy of the ID, (civil record extract in case of no ID card),
  7. A copy of the passport,
  8. /12/ personal photos (for males in formal attire, with short cut hair and a clean shaven beard),
  9. A copy of the military service book, for males,
  10. A Certificate equivalency letter from the Ministry of Education of the country granting the certificate, with a copy duly attested by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (for certificates with a foreign curriculum),
  11. A Payment receipt of fees for the non-Syrian certificate equivalency (to be paid at one of the branches of the Commercial Bank of Syria) (provided that the name on the receipt matches the one mentioned in the high school certificate),
  12. A duly attested Arabic translation of all documents and certificates issued in a foreign language.

 

The university conducts an admissions comparison on the basis of a technical institute or university degree certificate that is compatible with the specialization in which the student wishes to register, according to the following stipulations: 
1- The average in the institute or university degree should be at least (good), regardless of the average in the high school certificate.
2- If the student's high school average is equal to the faculty's acceptance average in the year of admission, the student is accepted without regard to the institute or university degree's avarage.
3- The student is treated in both cases (1-2) on the basis of the institute or university degree's certificate,  provided that the exemption of courses does not exceed 20% of the number of credit hours in the faculty that the institute student will be accepted in and 50% of the number of credit hours in the faculty that the university degree holder will be accepted in, and according to what is decided by the competent university councils.

The Higher Education Council annually issues the rules of transfer (for registration change and parallel transfer) and registration for students with an intermediate institute or university degree certificate.

1-A duly certified original grades transcript from the institute or university along with 3 certified copies. 
2-An original graduation certificate along with 3 certified copies.
3-Course description (a study plan including the number of hours the student had studied) from the institute or university from which he/she had graduated.
4-The original high school certificate with 5 certified copies.
5-A copy of ID card
6-A copy of the passport, if any.
7-12 personal photos (for males in formal attire- with short cut hair and a clean shaven beard)
8-A copy of the military service book.
