Phenomenon of Drug Addiction: Causes, Effects and Methods of Prevention and Treatment

Out of its role in serving society, the Faculty of Medicine has organized a symposium on the phenomenon of drug addiction: causes, effects and methods of prevention and treatment. The activity was attended by Prof Dr Mohammed A’amer Al-Mardini, president of Al Andalus University, the university two vice presidents, members of staff and a crowd of students.
During the symposium, Dr Fawwaz Haidar talked about addiction and various addictive substances. In addition, Dr Hussam Mulhem talked about various methods of prevention and medicinal and behavioral treatment. The two participants focused also on the importance of fighting this phenomenon because of its destructive effects on individuals and on society as a whole. They also stressed that students should be aware of the danger of addiction and should play an awareness role in their families and society.
