Al Andalus Private University for Medical Sciences Participates in the Second International Conference of Biomedical Engineering -2023
The Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at Al Andalus University has been an active participant in the activities of the Second International Conference of Biomedical Engineering (ICBME). The conference was held under the supervision of the Department of Biomedical Engineering/ the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering/ Damascus University, during the period between May 15-17, 2023, under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Bassam Ibrahim. Our Faculty of Biomedical Egineering has presented a number of unique lectures and research papers that increased the knowledge and techniques pertaining to the field of biomedical engineering. Lecturers in the faculty have chaired a number of the conference sessions, in addition to the large presence of the faculty students in the conference.
The Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Munif, presented a lecture titled, The Current Situation and Geographical Distribution of Capital Medical Devices in Syria, whereas the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Basem Salim, presented a lecture titled, The Uses of laser in Dental Applications. These two lectures were among the official lectures of the conference after both deans were invited by the organizing committee of conference.
On the other hand, our Faculty of Biomedical Engineering has enriched the conference with a number of research papers in various specializations in the field.
Dr. Muhammad Ayham Darwish participated with Dr. Maysaa Shash and Eng. Catherine Khalil in a research titled "3D Digital Design and Testing of Intervertebral Discs Manufactured for Patients", which dealt with the horizons of designing vertebral models that help in the treatment of erosive intervertebral disc disease and promote industrialization with national expertise. This in turn helps improve the quality of health care. Dr. Ayman Al-Kayyal, Head of the Medical Equipment Department at the Faculty, presented a research titled “Monitoring Malfunctions of Dental Units in Private Dental Clinics and Analyzing the Affecting Factors,” which dealt with the development of a periodic maintenance system for dental units in private clinics. Dr. Jumana Diab and Dr. Sahar Al-Ali co-authored a research titled "LQI Immune Controller to Solve the Issue of Delay in Preparing Dialysis Fluid".
In the field of medical image processing, Dr. Ghada Saad, accompanied by Eng. Noman Daly and Eng. Arwa Ahmed, presented a research titled "Using Image Processing Techniques in the Diagnosis of Pulmonary Disorders".
The participation of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at Al Andalus University in the activities of the second ICBME is considered influential and successful, as the faculty was able to highlight its expertise and distinguished experiences in the field of biomedical engineering. The faculty lecturers exchanged knowledge and experience with other participants in the conference, and the scientific papers presented by our faculty were highly qualified and innovative, as they contributed to expanding the audience's knowledge about the field of biomedical engineering.
