On May 23rd, Dr. Maria Kurolap, from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Voronezh State University, gave a remote lecture in English for students of Al-Andalus University. The lecture was held as part of the academic exchange between the two universities.

The lecture dealt with the essentials of pharmacoeconomics. The lecture also covered three main topics: problems of rational use of medicine, main methods of pharmacoeconomic analysis and examples from pharmacoeconomic studies by Russian and foreign scientists in genuine medical practice. Dr. Maria Kurolap also reported the results of her own pharmacoeconomic studies on the treatment of patients with open-angle glaucoma. Second and fourth year Pharmacy students in Al-Andalus University attended this remote lecture and exchanged their views on the possibility of using pharmacoeconomics methods to rationalize the provision of medicine to the Syrian population. They also talked about their career plans post graduation.

The lecture was organized by Dr. Saly Dagher, who in turn gave a remote lecture on pharmaceutical marketing in December of this academic year to students of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Voronezh State University.
