Organic Chemistry in Human Body
· Module Description
The module introduces students to the living cell and the chemical reactions within it, water and the chemical medium, the basic organic compounds (carbohydrates, fats and proteins), nucleic acids, energy-rich compounds, enzymes and the medical importance of both vitamins and hormones.

o 40%: Class activity.
o 60%: End-of-term exam.

Structure of organic compounds, isomerization, hydrogen bond, carbohydrates, sugars, amino acids and proteins, peptide bonds, extraction and purification, fats, fatty acids, vitamins and hormones.
