Module description

Students will acquire the required knowledge about the basics of computers, understanding their components, and learning about computer software used in academic, research and professional fields.

40%: Class activity.

60%: Final-term exam.

An introduction to the principles of digital information and digital system – computer basics and components – types and classifications of computers – input and output components – types and technical concepts of memory – secondary storage media – an introduction to processors – basics of networking – fundamental computer software (operating systems and programs) – basics of dealing with the internet use and its services – concept of computer security and protection.
