Module Goals
This module aims to:
- Build a clinical information system about intoxication, its signs, and the methods used to handle it, focusing on the diversity of these toxic substances in nature.
- Provide students with information about the toxic effects of drugs, which relate directly to the dose used.
Assessment Methods
- Individual questions, quizzes, evaluation of external activities, theoretical and practical tests. These constitute 40% of total mark of the
- A final exam constituting 60% of total mark.
Module Syllabus
This module encompasses the clinical part of toxicology as it focuses on intoxication with various substances found in the surrounding environment. These substances differ in nature, characteristics and sources (organic, non-organic, medical and non-medical toxins). This module also addresses methods used to handle those toxins in all age categories whether in acute or chronic toxicity. It also describes the toxic effects of drugs and how to limit these effects.
