.

Module Description

Module Goals

This module aims to introduce students to basic knowledge about toxicology, especially about kinetics of toxic substances in the body. The module also aims to present the toxic mechanism by which a poison affects various organs in the body so that the student is able to distinguish the toxic effect via poison type and targeted organ.

Assessment Methods

  • Practical written tests, oral questions, practical homework, research seminars and practical exam.
  • A final theoretical exam.

Module Syllabus

The module reviews the toxicological information common to all toxic substances that can affect an organism. The second part of the module presents mechanisms of toxic substances on various organs of the body, in a way to highlight the relationship between structure of the poison, its nature and how it targets a particular organ. The module also presents the most important antidotes used in the field of toxicology, as well as the volatile and gaseous toxins generally found in the environment.
