Module Description

  • Module Goals

This module aims to introduce students to the importance of remedies and the study of medicinal plants based on the classification of basic chemical groups (active ingredients) that constitute drugs and are related to the physiological effect and medicinal use of these plants. In addition, the module studies the geographic origin of medicinal plants, their classification, their basic morphological characteristics and their usable parts. The module also focuses on the bio-synthesis of pharmacologically used active ingredients.

Written practical tests, oral questions, practical homework, Research seminars, written final exam (theoretical and practical).

  • Module Syllabus

This module explains the student's role in exploring the importance of medicinal plants as a source for safe medicines, based on a structural and functional study of the most important active ingredients. It also deepens the student's knowledge of folk medicine.
