Module Description

  • Module Goals

This module aims to introduce students to pharmaceutical forms, liquid forms, dispersed systems, ophthalmic drops, parenteral preparations and their composition of irrigation solutions and excipients, and how to monitor them. It also teaches the student how to formulate these forms in a way that ensures their effect on the patient is as good as possible.

 

Assessment Methods

at 40% for the work of the semester and a final exam at 60%.

  • Individual questions during the lecture, quizzes, evaluation of external activities, theoretical and practical tests. These constitute 40% of total mark of the
  • A final exam constituting 60% of total mark.

Module Syllabus

This module introduces some basic concepts regarding liquid dosage forms (syrups, oral drops, aural drops and nasal drops). It deals with emulsions: their preparation methods, surfactant agents, their excipients and monitoring. In addition, this module discusses suspensions and their preparation methods and stability. It also studies aerosols and liposomes.
