Module Goals
Students should acquire:
- the main concepts of organic chemistry and stereochemistry
- some of the simple organic functions in organic chemistry
- the knowledge that will help the student to study and understand biochemistry
- the medical uses of some of the compounds mentioned in this module.
Assessment Methods
- Individual questions during the lecture, quick tests covering the complete period of the module, evaluation of external activities, and theoretical and practical tests. These constitute 40% of total mark of the

Module Syllabus
The concepts of basic organic chemistry and stereochemistry, which include the study of geometric and optical isomerization and the study of some simple organic functions such as double and triple bonds, alkyl halides, alcohols, ethers, epoxides, sulfides, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, and amines. In addition, the module includes the study of some mechanisms of organic reactions.
