Al-Andalus Private University for Medical Sciences ranked first among Syrian universities and research centers in the 2026 edition of the Green Rankings. This is the first time Al-Andalus University has entered this well-known global ranking.

The ranking is based on seven main criteria branched into more than 30 sub-criteria, the most important of which are the quality of education at the university, the university's community service, and scientific research at the university, especially that related to development.

It is worth noting that Al-Andalus University ranked 1403rd globally out of the top 2500 universities worldwide in the field of development, benefiting particularly from the scientific research criterion, having published more than 23 scientific papers in development fields related to renewable energy, disasters, and poverty, in addition to more than 24 scientific papers related to development in the health field during the last year of the ranking, as well as the university's commitment to rural development.

It is also noted that this ranking included only five Syrian universities in the 2026 edition, in which Al-Andalus University ranked first among all governmental and private universities and research centers alike, while the University of Damascus ranked third locally and first among public universities.

The university's entry into the ranking for the first time in its history and its inclusion among the top 1500 universities worldwide in development is considered a qualitative achievement, given that some academic accreditation standards rely heavily on this ranking.
