Uterine arteriovenous malformation: a case of challenges in diagnosis and management of a patient with a history of misdiagnosed hemorrhage

Uterine arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are a rare cause of obstetrical hemorrhage. It can be congenital due to a defect during embryogenesis or acquired. Uterine AVMs can cause life threatening postpartum hemorrhage, and is most frequently misdiagnosed. This case highlights the diagnostic challenges posed by uterine arteriovenous malformation, a rare vascular anomaly that poses significant challenges in diagnosis and management.

Medullary carcinoma (MC) is a rare type of colon carcinoma that accounts for less than 1% of colorectal neoplasms. Morphologically, MC resembles many colorectal cancer (CRC) subtypes, mainly Neuroendocrine Carcinoma (NEC) due to exhibiting neuroendocrine features. In consequence, MC is exceedingly challenging to detect; numerous immunohistochemistry tests are required in order to distinguish it from the other subtypes of CRC.
