Module description

Students should acquire knowledge and understanding in the basic components of digital systems, electronic digital circuits and their applications.

  • Assessment Methods

40%: Class activity.

60%: End-of-term exam.

  • Module Syllabus

The course includes the following:

  • Binary systems that include digital systems and binary numbers
  • Boolean algebra and logic gates: definition of Boolean algebra, main theories, functions and logic gates
  • Gate-level simplification: diagram method, four-variable diagram and five-variable diagram
  • Combinational logic: combinational circuits, design procedures, adder and subtractor
  • Synchronous sequential logic: sequential circuits, flip-flops.
