The monthly meeting of the Accreditation Committee was held on 31/10/2018 at 13:00. The meeting was headed by Prof Mohammed A’amer Al-Mardini, the university consultant for Accreditation and International Relations, and attended by Prof Hassan A-Kurdi and Dr Chadi Azmeh. Members of the auditing team (Dr Rula Alio, Dr Mohammad Ayham Darwish and Dr Neruda Barakat) and training team (Dr Eiad Khalil & Dr Rima Abbas) as well as Eng. Muhsen Abbas, manager of the university website, were also among the attendees. During the meeting, presentations from the deans of four faculties (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Biomedical Engineering) about the states of their faculties regarding local accreditation were presented. The presentations pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of each faculty in regard to Decision No 31, dated 29/11/2007 and outlined the timetable for achieving the requirements. It has been shown that the Faculty of Pharmacy, followed by the faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, is the most suitable candidate to be accredited having fulfilled the requirements in terms of the academic staff and the numbers and areas of teaching rooms and labs.
Prof Al-Mardini asserted that the cooperation between students, members of staff and the university administration is importance to achieved the requirements of accreditation. In addition, Dr Chadi Azmeh explained how important it is to sign agreements with high-ranking European universities in order to exchange students and cooperate regarding research projects with the aim of improve the university ranking.
